| (Female host to Cali Bamboo CEO Jeff Goldberg) Jeff! Thank you for answering our call for help! Now I know you’re gonna help us put in a new fence. (Male host) The bamboo fence is going to give us privacy, and this is gonna be kinda our meditation yard. This is just the perfect fit for this kind of situation. (Female) Is it gonna be a closed bamboo panel, or is it gonna be open? (Goldberg) No, it’s gonna be closed in the sense that it will be tight together, but it will allow for airflow to come through. A little bit of sunlight as well. (Female) How tall will it be? (Goldberg) It’s going to be a six-foot tall fence, and the entire thing is gonna be made out of bamboo. The reason that we do this – we knock out the center of the nodes right there in the bamboo -- is that when we put the cement in there, the cement fills in the center of the bamboo and on the outside, and it pins it much tighter than the typical 4x4 would. And we’re gonna actually cut two-inch holes into those, and we’re gonna put two-inch diameter bamboo inside of that. And then we’ll attach the panels. (Female) So, it’ll be really safe, and when the winds come, the tropical winds, it’s gonna stand, right? (Goldberg) Exactly. It’s gonna last for 20 years, 30 years. (Lady and daughter) I’m a little nervous. Just because of the unknown. Like what’s going to happen. How it will look. (Goldberg) And now that you have a new bamboo fence. (Lady) Yes. (Goldberg) You know, most people are familiar with the old cedar dog-ear fence panels. So a lot of people question, you know, how strong is bamboo? Will it hold up? So we like to do real-life testing. If you want, you can smack it, or I can. (Man) Uh, I’ll let you do it. (Goldberg breaks cedar plank in half.) It snaps pretty easy. (Smacks bamboo panel) It just kind of splinters it a little bit. (Male host) I wanna try! Batter up! (Goldberg) Now it’s a little weak now. I mean it’s been beat on. |
