Gear Up for the Green Home Challenge!

Cali Bamboo is partnering with Surfrider Foundation to launch the 1st Annual Green Home Challenge. If you or someone you know has a creative eco home improvement project made in the last 12 months, you could qualify. Any material or supplier qualifies as long as it is green.

Here’s how it works: In 250 words or less describe your awesome environmentally-friendly home project and email it to greenhomechallenge@calibamboo.com. Be sure to include a few choice photos and get everything sent in before June 30th!

Surfrider and Cali Bamboo staff will judge projects based on creativity and environmental impact before selecting one Grand Prize winner to participate in the 2010 Surfrider Celebrity Expression Session this September. You and a friend could be flown to Los Angeles for an all-expenses paid weekend including a half hour surf session with a yet-to-be-announced celebrity as well as access to the event’s VIP party. Runners-up will receive $500 and $250 Cali Bamboo Gift Certificates.

CaliCork™ Flooring… for the Greenest of Homes

Cali Bamboo is proud to introduce the newest addition to our green flooring line: CaliCork™, a highly developed series of environmentally-friendly cork floors. Made from recycled cork material from the wine industry, CaliCork™ floors use Ceramic Wear Resistance Technology to improve upon cork flooring already in the market in terms of strength and scratch-resistance. Cork’s natural elastic properties make for a softer, impact-absorbing floor which doubles as a great sound and temperature insulator. Cork flooring is naturally mold and water resistant, and can be cleaned more easily than a traditional hardwood floor. Another nice perk of CaliCork™ flooring is its simple-to-use clicklock installation system – no glue required!

CaliCork’s revolutionary Ceramic Wear Resistance Technology is made possible by a proprietary impregnation process whereby ceramic micro beads are bonded to the natural cork material creating an incredibly durable cork floor. This wear-resistant cork nearly eliminates the appearance of scratches, scuff marks, scoring and rough spots so your floor will withstand traffic in even the busiest of rooms. Cali Bamboo offers a 15 year warranty on each CaliCork™ floor to back up this fact.

Best of all, cork can be grown and harvested sustainably. Cork material is “trimmed” from only the outer bark of a cork oak tree, which then grows back completely, allowing the tree to remain living. A cork oak can live up to 200 years with harvesting occurring once every nine years. This allows for about 20 harvests during a tree’s life, making cork is one of nature’s most renewable resources.
