Team Cali celebrates its lucky 13th year with an evening of reggae, raffles, and libations down by the shore.
Good tunes, good vibes, and good company — it all came together on the night of Friday, August 25 for Cali Bamboo’s annual birthday bash, dubbed the Endless Summer Session. This year’s party was held at Coaster Terrace in Belmont Park, overlooking the seaside amusement park and mighty Pacific Ocean. The DJ was spinning, drinks were flowing (especially the evening’s signature beverage “The Bamboozey”), and team members had a chance to kick back and enjoy each other’s company.
Many a move was busted to the songs of beloved reggae artist Pato Banton, who, along with his band, provided the perfect entertainment.
Best of all, the event ended up raising $20,300 from sponsor donations and night-of raffle sales. That total doubles the amount raised at last year’s bash and will be split between two of Cali Bamboo’s all-time favorite nonprofits — Surfrider Foundation San Diego County Chapter and San Diego Humane Society.
Surfrider Foundation is fueled by a powerful activist network and is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of oceans, waves, and beaches. The Foundation was started in 1984 by a group of visionary surfers from Malibu, California. Today, it maintains over 250,000 members, supporters, and activists with 84 chapters in the U.S. and affiliates in over 20 countries worldwide.
As San Diego’s oldest nonprofit, Humane Society has been serving the county since 1880, and focuses not just on animal adoptions but on programs designed to provide medical care, prevent cruelty and neglect, strengthen the human-animal bond, and provide safety net services for families needing assistance in keeping their pets.
