There’s nothing better than a classic food drive to kick off the holiday season. Mix in a healthy bit of competition and you have a mission tailor-made for the team at Cali Bamboo. The company set an overall goal to raise 500lbs of food to donate to the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank — the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County. Employees were simultaneously divided into 15 teams in a race to round up the most number of food items. (An intrepid team in Sales took home gold.)
True to form, Team Cali blew it out of the water. 3,200 individual items were donated, totaling 3,097lbs of food! This will provide 2,581 nutritious meals to children, families, active duty military, and fixed income seniors in need.
Beyond just spearheading amazing work, the San Diego Food Bank runs a very green operation, complete with solar power, a massive composter, and a LEED certified gold facility. No surprise good work and charitable giving goes hand-in-hand with eco-friendly living… and green building, for that matter!
