If you just want to clear loose dirt or leaves off your deck it’s better to use a broom than a hose. (Plus, it’s much more environmentally-friendly and you can get some exercise!)
If you do have to use water on the deck be sure you have good drainage and do it during the day so it will dry. Water left to pool on any deck is never a good idea. This is why it’s also good to keep your deck clear of wet leaves.
Just wondering what products can be used to clean you decking? I have the older deck material probably 10 years old by now. I don’t think mils dishwashing liquid would help.

For regular cleaning, we recommend a mild solution of warm dish soap. If that doesn’t do it, you can try using composite deck brighters. Here’s a video showing how to use deck brightener and which kinds to use. Most of the brands found at your local home improvement store will work.
