Ariane installed Bamboo Decking using alternating colors and textures in her San Diego Mission Hills home.
Hello my name is Ariane, welcome to my home in Mission Hills San Diego. This is our brand new deck from Cali bamboo. We new when we started researching that we wanted something that was going to be a green product, and based on the fact that we’re in an older neighborhood, there is a lot of concern about termites, we have a Southwestern exposure so you know a lot of heat, sun so I wanted something that was low maintenance and easy to care for and still look really nice. When I happenstance upon the Cali bamboo website I though wow, what an opportunity to play with colors and texture. My contractor Glen Carlson did a great job with that being able to alternate the colors and textures with the Caramel and Coffee. He’s done an outstanding job with the elevations, some storage and we’ve had our first party here and I look forward to having many more this summer.

I have a 1200 sf deck in SW Florida that I plan to build. This deck will be completely exposed to the elements. First question, how would this product hold up to this?
Second question, how hot does this product get? this deck would be primarily used as a sun deck, most products get incredibly hot to walk on, in fact, walking barefoot in most cases is prohibitive.
Can you give me a sf price?
Thanks
Hi Mitch,
We have a lot of deck owners in South Florida, no problem. For your heat concerns, I would go with Glacier TruOrganics or Glacier TruOrganics Wide. The light color of the decking will keep it cooler in direct sun. As for pricing, it’s best to give us a call at 1(888) 788-2254, you may also need fasteners, square edge boards, end caps or railings which they can put together into a project estimate.
