Can the engineered hardwood bamboo except radiant floor heating underneath? This would be on a slab in my den.
Hi Thomas,
We do not recommend our engineered flooring with radiant heat systems.
Hi, I am consider Cali Bamboo’s flooring after seeing some samples at Lowes and other flooring stores. My main concern is pet accident that we wouldn’t find until later. I know Vinyl would work, but I love the feel of wood. How would your Geowood line handle a spill that sit for too long? What about Engineered Eucalyptus?
Hi Joyce,
So for spills that get cleaned up sooner than later, all of our floors are suitable. If you’re talking about a spill sitting on a floor for several hours or overnight, then the products that resist best are the products with less wood or bamboo in them. The more wood material a product has the more susceptible it is to moisture damage. If you were to put our floors in order of moisture resistance it would look like this.
1. Cali Vinyl
2. GeoWood
3. Cork Flooring
3. Engineered Flooring
4. Solid Flooring
I live in a flood zone. Never had water in the house since I’ve been here but close. House had water in it once that I know of and that was the flood of 2010. I’m looking for a vinyl plank floor that I can glue down. In the event that water does enter the home I would like for it to be where water wouldnt go between the floor and concrete slab. Is this possible?
Hi Roger,
In theory, if you glued the floor down that should eliminate the space between the floor and the slab, but my gut is telling me if it’s underwater, there’s going to be water getting trapped in there at the seams and anywhere there’s an air pocket in the adhesive. Might be better off floating and in the event of a flood, the planks could be pulled up, dried and relaid after the slab has dried. If I were you I’d only be looking at GeoWood or Cali Vinyl Pro.
How thick should the padding be on the bamboo flooring and is it needed. I’m planning on putting it in a condo/townhouse on a second floor. It is going in an office and living room/dining area
Hi Henry,
Thickness alone doesn’t always dictate performance, it’s a careful balance of thickness, density and quality material that make Cali Complete the ideal underlayment for noise reduction for multi-level commercial and residential applications.
