As the world responds to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we here at CALI are prioritizing the well-being of our customers and team. To protect the health of staff at our San Diego headquarters we began transitioning to working from home on March 12, with most of our team working from home by March 16th.
For the safety of our customers and team members, our San Diego showroom is closed until further notice. We will reopen to the public when we feel we can do so safely.
During this time, our business remains fully operational:
- Free samples can still be ordered off our website and shipped directly to your home.
- Building Consultants are available to talk or chat online Mon-Fri 6am-6pm PT and Sat 6am-2pm PT.
- Free home delivery for flooring orders has been extended, with most orders arriving in 5-7 days.
- Our shipping carriers currently remain in operation and are making 100’s of deliveries/day from our fully stocked east and west coast warehouses.
- Detailed installation guides for every floor and deck can be found here.
- Many installers are taking extra safety precautions and continue to work. If needed, we can refer you to an installer in your community.
We are here to support you if you are inspired to use this time to make your home a sanctuary. If now is not the time to build together, we’ll be here when it is.
From all of us on Team CALI, please stay safe and be well.
I live in Rhode Island, recent transplant from Seattle. I will be putting in an in-ground pool in early summer 2021. I’d like to know if there are dealers here in New England that can supply and install/build my decking and fencing? Eager to engage and align them with my pool contractor so that they can work together on design and details. Thanks.
Hi Laurie,
Once your plans start to come together and your contractor figures out the amount of materials needed, just give us a call at 1(888) 788-2254 and one of our team members can put the order together and have it shipped to your curb in 3-5 days.
Hi Walter We are building in Homer Alaska. Home Depot in kenai shows some cali bamboo flooring. Could you email us which cali bamboo products you ship to either anchorage or kenai home depot this december january. With the list please add photos of the natural bamboo in projects you like and pricing per sq ft. Your offering with the 20 percent off by dec 24 order. Is that offer being honored by home depot in alaska. Do you think getting the cali natural bamboo from home depot in alaska is better pricing then direct from san diego and approx shipping for 1000 sq ft of flooring to Homer Alaska?
Hi Karen! These are all great questions. We’d love to help you with your project. Please call our team at 1(888) 788-2254 and they will be happy to provide you with details on the best product for your location, shipping information, and pricing details so you know where you’ll be able to get the best price. Let us know if you need anything else 🙂
Can area rugs that are labeled with a latex backing the same as a natural rubber backing? Are they safe To use on fossilized Bamboo?
Hi Judy,
I would go with Glacier TruOrganics or Glacier TruOrganics Wide. The light color of the decking will keep it cooler in direct sun, and the full wrap will keep scratches to a minimum.
Best,
We are ordering the Denali solid decking for our 12’x56’ deck. How would you design the layout? Like would you use 4’, 8’, 16’ and stagger each row or would you use 12’ all the way across? Any help with pattern would be great. We ordered all 16’ foot boards 8 inches wide.
Hi Connie,
Here’s a webpage with a lot of different deck designs. Most of these designs are to help people using the 8′ boards but you could do the same designs just longer with the longer 16′ boards. Some designs are more trendy or modern like the diagonal ones. Personally, I like the framed design where you frame the deck with planks cut at 45s at the corners. To me it looks nice and finished and it’s not that hard to achieve. If you really want to go bonkers, since you have the solid boards, you could heat the boards with a special heating blanket and bend them to make a deck that has curves, but it’s definitely not a DIY kind of thing, you’ll want to use a professional that has done it before. Hope this helps, best of luck!

My condo has cement fllors covered with very thin parquet. What type of flooring would you tecommend?
Hi Carol,
As long as the doors in your condo will have enough clearance, you could float any of our floors right over it. I would get some free samples and test it out by laying the sample on the floor and try to open and close all the doors in your home. If there is not enough clearance you’ll either need to remove the parquet or trim your doors. Our Engineered Hardwood floors are our thickest and our Cali Vinyl Pro is our thinnest.
What different color options do you have, and do you have any tile like or stone like types?
Hi Jessica, you can see all of our floor colors here. No, we don’t have any that are designed to look like stone or tile yet, but it is on our radar.
The room I would like to do over from carpet to flooring I sad in the basement, gets moist at times. What flooring would you recommend?
Hi Gina,
For a damp basement, I would put down Cali Complete underlayment and seal it with metallic seal tape and float Cali Vinyl plank flooring.

Do you still carry bamboo thatch in a roll? Thanks
Hi Ken,
Sorry, we no longer sell thatch products.
Is it possible to pick-up a gallon of TWP -303 dark oak stain at your store location or is everything delivery only?
Hi James,
It’s all delivery.
Best
Hi:
Has Rustic Bamboo Flooring in Barnwood been discontinued? We are planning to build a new house soon and have had our eye on it for a few years. If it has been discontinued, what’s the closest thing you have to its look. We absolutely love it.
Hi Dan,
While the Rustic Barnwood does look stunning, the upkeep with an oil finish floor is significant and took many homeowners by surprise. The next best thing without all the work would be our Vintage Port flooring. It has all the character but features an Aluminum Oxide finish that’s easy to care for.
Can the fossilized bamboo flooring be safely installed as a floating floor with underlayment over a particleboard subfloor that was glued to plywood?
Hi Judy, that shouldn’t be a problem.
Can area rugs that are labeled with a latex backing the same as a natural rubber backing? Are they safe To use on fossilized Bamboo?
Hi Judy,
Out of an abundance of caution we always caution against using anything but fabric baccked rugs. It’s very difficult to dicern what substances will react with your floor’s finish. If you think it may be fine, we always recommend homowners place the backing on an inconspiuouse area of flooring (like a closet) for a week or two to confirm the two play nice.
I’m considering using the Java fossilized Strand woven solid bamboo click flooring in a modular duplex that’s a rental. Other than acclimating the flooring # in each room and adhering to the recommended spacing around the edges, is there anything else I should be wary of? The home is in central Massachusetts it does get humid at times. Is this okay as long as the flooring was acclimated and installed correctly? This is a DIY project. (Vinyl is not an option).
Hi Judy,
You got it, acclimate the flooring as long as possible and keep 1/2″ expansion space around all fixed objects. The only other installation thing you’ll want to keep in mind is for spans over 30 feet you’ll want to add 1/8″ additional expansion space, and if you’re floating the floor you’ll need to break rooms up with t-moldings, if you glue or nail down the floor can flow from room to room. Oh, and if you float, try not to put anything over 500 pounds on the floor as it will pin the floor down and inhibit the natural expansion and contraction of the wood. After the flooring is installed you’ll want to make sure you’re tenants don’t wet mop or use a steamer on the floors, excessive moisture and heat don’t play nice with wood floors.
Hi, need to match some existing decking. Do you have any Charcoal Bamdeck 3G in stock? Looking for 8.25″W x 16′ (open to length).
Thanks,
Mike
Hi Mike,
We don’t have any of the 3G product but the 4G product is the same color and dimensions, it just doesn’t have the lines on one side like the 3G product had, it’s flat. Also, the wide plank decking tops out at 8′ due to weight issues, that’s as long as it can be.
Hi. We have your cork flooring and love it. Can you advise what product you recommend to clean and disinfect cork flooring without damaging it? We use the Bona floor cleaner but it does not disinfect.
Hi KC,
Glad to hear you’re a fan of the cork floors! Bona Professional (not the regular one) Wood Floor Cleaner does list hydrogen peroxide as an ingredient. We’ve reached out to Bona to get clarification if Bona Pro is considered a disinfectant. While we’re waiting on word from that, we have lightly sprayed a 50/50 mixture of water and vinegar on our flooring and we’ve found it to be fairly safe for occasional disinfecting, keep in mind it did dull the finish over time so I would only use it every once and a while, you could also use the Bona after the vinegar mixture to help discourage dulling of the finish.
Have you found out any more about disinfecting cork flooring?
We found this to be a safe solution: https://us.bona.com/products/bona-powerplus-hard-surface-antibacterial-floor-cleaner.html
I am a vanlifer in the San Diego area and am interested in purchasing a few sheets of plywood from you.
Do you sell half sheets?
Quarters? 1×8 or 2’x4’
Hi Matthew! Vanlifer, love it. You by chance a climber too and in the area near Mesa Rim Mira Mesa? Unfortunately, we do not sell half sheets. In fact, I think there is actually a 2 sheet minimum if I’m not mistaken. One thing you could do is reach out to [email protected] and inquire about doing some sort of collaboration? We might be able to get you a half sheet of plywood in exchange for a DIY video or other type of user generated content. How about that hail storm last night! Take care and be safe!
