Green Shoots Blog
Russ Caine from Poway, California loves to entertain. When it came time to update the pool decking, Russ knew he wanted a mixture of rough and smooth surfaces surrounding the pool. Russ’s design creatively utilizes pavers and Cali Bamboo’s TruOrganics Composite decking to create a composite pathway around the pool amongst the stone. Smooth and rough textures beautifully juxtaposed form an organic and inviting design. Russ’s kids and two pugs love the new pool decking and have already had their first big party celebrating the completion of the project. Russ looks forward to many more opportunities to entertain in his new backyard space.

Would you recommend these products for a small utility trailer? 4X8
It could work for that, as long as it can be secured to a support every 16 inches or less.
How does your products coloring hold up to cat urine. We have a room specifically for cats and frequently temporarily rescue extra cats when needed. Our main concern is how the color will hold up and not bleach from cat urine. Thank you, ChristieLynn
Hi Christie Lynn,
I noticed you posted this question on a decking page are you looking for decking or flooring? If flooring, I would look at our vinyl plank flooring, it will hold up to cat whiz.
How will it handle a northern winter, in freezing temps and standing snow for up to 5 months a year? I know I’m selling it for you guys in California but I am looking for an eco friendly material to use around a pool and also throughout the yard in different garden areas. I live in Michigan and would like for it withstand our very cold winter and extreme heat and sun we have some summers. I’m guessing from the reviews the sun and heat are no problem but I saw and heard nothing about cold and snow affect durability. Any information would be great. Thank you and stay safe.
Hi Angelique,
It holds up very well to frequent and persistent freezes. TruOrganics has been on the market for over three years and I haven’t heard of any issues related to cold weather.
How does the decking rate regarding heat?
Hi Evon,
I’ve done some testing of different brands of composite decking and I can tell you from brand to brand they all perform about the same. The big take-away from my tests was that the color of the decking material had much more to do with how hot it got and how long it held onto that heat. If you have kids and are concerned about your deck getting too hot, be sure to choose a lighter colored product. We have several light colors in our Bamdeck (Slate) and TruOrganics (Glacier, Mojave) lineups that stay cooler in direct sun.
